I've tried a few other brands and they were either cheap although expensive or too bulky. These shock collars are small and light enough for my Shih Tzu, battery life seems very good so far. I haven't had to use the shock function yet as the vibrate setting was enough of a deterrent for her. I love the suppleness of these collars and the remote control. The remote control is intuitive and delivers stimuli as expected. The sleep function is great for battery life, I also like that the collar light isn't annoying and isn't too bright at night. It's very difficult to find collars that aren't big and bulky but have all the necessary features. The only thing I would change about the collar is that it would be nice to have a buckle for quick on and off. It would have been nice to have a dual collar option as I was forced to buy two of these for an extra collar but at least I have a spare remote in case one is lost or broken.
