I was really looking forward to the MYTVONLINE feature for recording live broadcasts and timeshifting. Unfortunately, I didn't have the patience to even try. Guess I've been spoiled trying out different devices over the past few months. I started streaming in March 2019 and gained experience through trial and error. I have 2 Android streaming devices that I no longer use: 1 Roku Stick, 1 Revain Firestick, 2 Revain 4K Firesticks (1 still in original box) and 1 Nvidia Shield. I had to persuade myself to buy the Formuler Z8 because my 4K Firestick and Shield meets my streaming needs. It was the MYTVONLINE feature that made me make another purchase. Setup was easy, despite the tiny font that required me to sit inches from the TV screen to navigate/print. There was a problem after connecting. My television programs stuttered. It was as if someone repeatedly pressed pause on the remote control. This issue was not addressed in the Companion Guide. Searched on GOOGLE and found a solution in a thread posted by someone about buffer issues. The next step was to set the adjusted buffer to "10". Then I had to figure out how to save channels to favorites. It took me a while to figure out that this is the same save method as on my other streaming devices, but the remote control buttons are finicky. You have to press correctly to get the desired result in everything you do. The device is packed with features, but the manual provides little explanation on how to quickly access it. In fact, there are so many functions that there are many buttons on the remote control. The remote control has no backlight. So if you can't remember the location of the buttons, you'll need a lighted room to find everything. Either the video resolution is missing or I didn't take the time to learn how to adjust the settings. The time couldn't be moved because I couldn't figure out how to set the device to recognize my memory card. All these things described are intuitive on the Shield and the Firestick. Impermissible delay between channel switching. I haven't experienced any of the instant channel switching demonstrated in the few YouTube videos I've seen. Maybe my WiFi was to blame. But the 4K Firestick solved my Wi-Fi issues, even though I was willing to try this device. I fell asleep and woke up to the gray screen of the TV. My Wi-Fi was disabled even though the network settings and my VPNSafetyDot told me otherwise. This was the third time my WiFi went down. And the last draw for me. I've only owned the Formuler Z8 for 8 hours but it was already apparent that it was taking too much effort to get it working the way I was used to. Unfortunately I will be returning this device.
