Review on πŸ” CIPA USA 11980 Universal Towing Mirror Kit, black - Enhanced SEO by Justin Herman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best universal mirror. Unfortunately.

This mirror isn't perfect, but after trying many other styles I've found it to be the only general purpose mirror that actually works as a decent towing mirror. The other universal mirror is that you can extend it much further, meaning you can actually see beyond your pendant, which is the whole point of these things after all. Most other universal mirrors, including other CIPA mirrors, are universally useless in this regard. It's quick to put on and take off, and best of all, it won't interfere with the operation of your existing power mirror (at least on my Honda Pilot). It also gives a clear picture and doesn't vibrate too much. Now for the negatives. There are two main disadvantages. First, if you don't take precautions, you will eventually lose the mirror. Too much area protruding into the airflow for the small clips to hold. One day you'll be driving at 65 miles an hour and a big truck will go the other way and your side mirror will disappear. I'm buying my 5th of these right now for this reason! This time I plan to make some modifications: either a hanging loop or tape or something else. Just take a look! Oh, and don't try to prevent this by over-tightening the clamps. They are made of plastic and will otherwise break. Yes, also lost. This is another disadvantage. They're also quite expensive compared to other generic mirrors, but since other generic mirrors don't really work at all, I think they're still more reasonably priced. hold leash.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Poor performance
