I ordered several of these cords because they were red and I was disappointed when they were different. As the other review says "faded bean color", it's like a reddish brown/orange (see pic). This might not be a big deal to some, but I set up a color scheme in the studio and my OCD is starting to scream. As for the cable, I like the black metal connectors and the cable's solid feel. They have gold plated contacts while others look and feel like tin. They feel heavy due to the inner cotton braid. Other similarly priced cables only have one cord inside, and while these cables claim to have 21 gauge wiring, they measure 28 gauge and the cables look very flimsy (other cables). It is as advertised. If only the color was red. I ordered some short whips just for the ends. Cable quality update: This is a quality cable. The red and white cores are double insulated, each with its own additional black hard insulation over the colored jacket. Then they are braided with yarn to add moisture. All of this is then braided with a copper grounding shield (like TV coaxial cable). Many other brands of cable only have a loosely twisted ground and other wires are loose and thin in the jacket with multiple strands along all the wires together. I still want red to be red
