Best Replacement Drive - PS4 Special Review

I felt compelled to write a review specifically about the performance of this drive as a replacement for the 500GB, 5400rpm drive that came with the Playstation 4 becomes. I'll explain why this is the best drive for the top three things I think you should consider: storage, speed, and price. * Storage space - 500 GB will not be enough for this system in the long term. The operating system and other required installations take up almost 100 GB of space on your hard drive. Games also now run at full 1080p, making the game size huge. Most games occupy between 20 and 50 GB. Assuming you have about 400GB of usable space left after installing the OS, about 20 games will be installed on your hard drive if the games are on the SMALL side. The actual number of games you can fit into might be significantly less, as games like Killzone: Shadow Fall weigh around 40GB. The solution to this problem may be deleting games when the hard drive is full, but that is inconvenient and you can play those games again. As hard drive technology has advanced over the coming years, the 2TB hybrid drive has become an enticing purchase for me. Seagate advertises "SSD-like performance". It's just not true. Solid state drives are significantly faster than traditional hard drives and hybrid drives like this one. Thanks to Seagate's adaptive storage technology, this hybrid drive can approach the speed of an SSD for certain tasks. Essentially, Seagate's adaptive storage technology allows the hard drive to "remember" frequently performed tasks, store information about those tasks in a solid-state cache, and perform those tasks at impressive speeds. Most of the time, these speed increases are noticeable when you boot your system, shut down your system, install software, and launch applications. I also have to say that the speed boost is much more noticeable for them on PC. For the steps just mentioned, you'll see a performance improvement if you run A/B testing with a standard drive, but it won't be as amazing as installing a full SSD drive on a Windows 8 computer if you're gaming on Playing a PS4 With the hybrid drive installed, boot times can be reduced somewhat, but again, it won't be overwhelming. wondering why I even recommend this disc as a replacement let alone the BEST PS4 replacement. The reason is the price. No, the increase in speed over a traditional hard drive will not surprise you when using it in a Playstation 4. Even though it's small, there's definitely an increase in speed, and the cost of this hard drive is comparable to a traditional non-hybrid hard drive. At this point, a 1TB SSD will cost you around $600. This makes it an easy task. In my opinion, given the size of the "next-gen" games you install, upgrading to a 1TB drive (or more in the future) is absolutely necessary. All in all, at the time of this review, a PS4 setup makes the most sense.
