Compared to my Bonavita temperature controlled kettle most of the details are better but some are not as good. Better: flow control, display quality, timer activation, grip comfort, base can be switched off when the kettle is not in place. Worse: Random E3 dry boil failure when the kettle has a lot of water. A sluggish thermostat below the boiling point. When the Bonavita is set to cook, it will turn on the heat as soon as the temperature drops to 211. Oval cookware can do the same if you press the hold button twice. If the temperature is below the boiling point, the Bonavita will turn on when the temperature drops 2F below the set point, although it tends to overshoot. The oval cookware here waits a full 4F without responding, even if you press the hold button twice to manually turn the heat back on. I mostly brew lightly cooked roasts, so it's no big deal. At lower temperatures, I've learned to work with refrigeration in my routine, but in my opinion the issue with the thermostat is the only thing that rivals really expensive kettles. I'd even be happy if the hold button trick worked to turn the heat back down to any degree below the setting.
