works, but. - Starters, Chargers & Portable Power Supplies

This is the end of my long search for the right pure sine wave inverter for my van. I've tried many different cheap options and they all produced a loud buzz when I played the guitar. This one was there too until I decided to look inside. I found that the ground pin on the socket was not connected at all and that the GND pin on the board was not connected either. I took apart a smaller inverter I have that has no problems with hum and found that the ground pin on the outlet is connected to the neutral pin on the outlet. His PCB ground was also connected to them. I connected (soldered) everything to the KRXNY as well as to another inverter (WAGAN Elite 12v 200w) and voila! no more noise Now it works great and I'm finally satisfied. Despite all these problems, this is a good inverter. The fan only works when the load is over 200W. I'm not sure of the exact amount, but it only happens when I'm using a coffee maker or Instant Pot. Turns on quickly and emits a fairly faint beep. When the battery is too low, it will beep every now and then; no constant squeaking like some other inverters. Another thing to note is that while inside, I noticed the fact that the wires connecting the AC power supply were only 18 AWG, which I believe means they carry the maximum load of around carry 1500 watts, not 2000 watts. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to actually draw 2000 watts. I don't know if the rest of the circuit would have held up if the wires had been upgraded to a thicker gauge. All in all, this is a very cheap inverter and it works, so despite all the extra work I had to do I still give it a pretty good rating.
