I've been using the adapter for about a year now. It connects my new HP laptop to monitors and projectors that only have a display port. It connects easily and I haven't had any problems. (I only have Thunderbolt and HDMI on my new laptop, which is pretty common.) I've been using it almost daily for several months, ever since I bought a cheaper monitor that only had a DisplayPort, no HDMI. So it might be worth buying this and a cheaper monitor. I also tried this on a Samsung Galaxy phone and it works for mirroring on my monitor too.
