Review on 🔪 Utopia Kitchen (Set of 2) Extra Large Bamboo Cutting Boards with Juice Grooves - Ideal Kitchen Chopping Boards for Meat, Cheese, and Vegetables (17 x 12 Inch) by Jennifer Phillips

I bought these chopping boards to replace a lot of warped old wood and plastic germicidal magnets in the kitchen hoping to tidy up the kitchen and replace them with a smaller number of more important tools for their work. So here are my observations so far. Size: The boards are a good, handy size for everyday cutting. Not big enough for a large roast and turkey, but that's what those big blocks of meat are for. The thickness appears to be sufficient to resist warping with fairly good standing water removal. Surface: The surface of these boards is not as smooth as many traditional wooden boards, with some grain visible to the hand. This is very typical of bamboo boards, especially ones that are not "end grain" like these checkered meat block boards. Not a big deal, and something that's probably very easy to fix with a random pass of fine sandpaper and some food-grade wax to repel water and stains. Cleaning/Maintenance: I'm a little skeptical of claims that the board doesn't require maintenance. Yes, they require less maintenance, but I always plan to give them a quick clean, dry them completely, and coat them with a light coat of cooking oil to keep them strong and looking good. Overall I like these boards, especially I paid less than $20 for two of them. I'm sure they won't last like a butcher's deck, but they will last long enough that they won't damage my knives in the process. The only thing that confuses me a bit is the slightly rough finish - I think they could have been sanded a bit smoother and maybe waxed for a safer finish - but again slightly. Time will tell if they're worth the 5 stars I'm going to give them, so I'll be back in a month and update if necessary. But at least I think it's a good buy for the money.
