I broke the heel of my foot about 7 weeks ago and went through the different stages from cast to boot. About 2 weeks ago the Doctor told me to wear an ankle compress sock while I wore the boot. Through this whole process my main issue was swelling. Not only did my foot swell but my leg all the way to my knee. So the ankle sock worked just for the foot and my leg continued to swell even worse when I wore it with the boot. So at my last visit to the Doctor he told me to bring a shoe and I should be able to wear it. I was able to get it on barely but couldn't fit a sock over the ankle compress sock and get my shoe on. So I just wore the ankle compress sock with the shoe.So for some people that might work fine but, I live near Chicago and it is starting to get cold here and an ankle toeless sock just won't cut it here. The Doctor told me that the swelling may last up to a year and for me that is just pure hell. That isn't going to work for me. So he tells me to get knee high compress socks the lowest compression and that might control the swelling. So I order and get it the next afternoon and by that time my foot and leg is pretty much swollen. So I put it on. It went on pretty easy and really compresses the most around the heel and ankle area. Which works well for those area but not so much on my calf area. I think the only reason my calf swells is because the ankle swells so bad it moves up. So the next morning I put it on and it went on easier and again compress around the heel and ankle. I felt I needed a little more compression around the ankle and heel area so I took off the knee high and put the ankle sock on and then put the knee high over it. It works great! No more swelling in the calf area and very little in the foot area. Wow so happy to have my leg back. Now I still haven't tried the shoe since the Doctors office but bought a shoe/slipper that adjusts with velcro and so far so good until the snow comes next week. I figured I should be able to fit in snow boots and just wear the shoe while I am home in the house. The sock works great and doesn't cut off my circulation. Which is just what I wanted. I hope my experience helps with your decision on choosing this product.
