A real piece of leather, instead of leather/faux leather/mysterious material, intertwined straps that fall apart quickly. The width is suitable for jeans, but fits with (most?) casual or dress pants. This is not a glossy finish; brown leather only - if you're looking for a formal or dressy look, you might find this a bit rustic/work/casual. The workmanship and clasp seem to be good and I like the finish of the clasp better than the bare stainless steel. One thing I want to mention is that I'm roughly "between sizes"; I wear waist 34 but height is 35 inches; After some thought, I settled on a 36" belt for 34" pants as recommended. It works fine, but I have to use it on the penultimate hole, not the middle hole (out of 5). No problem until I eat my way into the problem. I compared it to a 36" black belt for a 34" waist that I recently bought from another manufacturer and this belt is about 1 inch shorter (to be honest I've also paired it with a pair of laminated Comparing belts I had for a year during , and decided that there is no real standard among manufacturers. In any case, I'm very satisfied, it's not their fault, I'm friendly between the lengths.
