My average wife had trouble bending over the cradle rail to place and lift the baby, so we needed a small stool. We eliminated plastic and metal. Step stool for aesthetic reasons, so we needed a wooden stool by default. It was a little more expensive than some of the other wood options, but I liked the one-piece design. The design is simple but very reliable: molded plywood, varnished. The lack of sharp corners is also a plus as our son incorporated these into his bedtime games. Hide away in the kitchen for easy access to the top shelves.
