The wax melter feature is the best. It heats the wax at the perfect temperature that it doesn't burn. The smell permeates the area and lasts for a while. It's definitely better than putting a candle on top of the heating pad. I just didn't notice as much of a scent with the candle, even after a couple hours where the wax in the candle jar was fully melted. I purchased it to melt the rest of the wax in the candle where the wick had already burned down.Fortunately, I just used a plastic knife to dig out the wax and put it in the tray to melt down. It definitely worked then. Plus it's very stylish. I've gotten a few compliments on how it looks, so I'd say an overall good purchase if using to melt wax and not the full candle.
