Recently my three cats started tearing up my furniture, we moved to a new house and I think they are still trying to get used to all the space to play. Oil to keep them from scratches didn't really help so we wanted to get rid of the claws but didn't want to. When I saw this item I thought I'd give it a try and since I installed it they tried to scratch but their nails immediately slipped off and they haven't tried it on furniture since. Now they stick their nails in cat claws, so finding this item was a blessing. It's tough, my only cat Sophie tried to bite off the pins but couldn't so gave up.
