Review on πŸ”§ Unleash the Power of Precision: RUPES LHR21ES Big Foot Random Orbital Polisher by Michael Bressler

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best polisher, but maybe not the best version.

This double action polisher is touted as the best available with the solid craftsmanship and engineering you would expect from an Italian. Like any Italian supercar, this thing exudes ease in every detail, be it wax or serious compound. Gone was the post-polishing itch from all the vibration that other lower-end models had. I have had a Meguiar G110v2 in the past and it reduces the vibration by HALF. You are so much fun working with you that I look forward to the moment when I can polish cars instead of dreading the consequences. As for the noise level, it can be a bit quieter than the Meguiar. Trigger and cruise control function is not required. It's the button you press to lock the speed setting, but I found it cumbersome (probably because I'm left-handed and it's designed for right-handers). I liked the functionality of the Meguiar where you just turn it on and it spins without holding the trigger. It seems to me that a frivolous application needs a trigger for a polisher in my opinion. It should only be turned on or off. In terms of handling and ergonomics, it is far superior to the heavy and bulky Meguiar. The length and weight are perfect, heavy enough to be strong without tiring and also perfectly balanced. There is absolutely no need for a pen, so it was possible not to have one. Without them, you have much more precise control. I should point out that buyers should be mindful of what they're getting with this giant 21mm polishing pad. This is NOT for beginners. This 21mm throw will take you anywhere until you get used to it. His throw is so big that it takes a lot more effort to actually control him smoothly on the paint. Also, do NOT use it to polish fine curves or small areas. As soon as this thing touches any corners it stops spinning because the 6 inch pad is too big combined with 21mm of travel. This is its biggest advantage, but also its biggest disadvantage. It can cut through defects and pass panels FAST. Much quicker than my Meguiars did, I think at 8mm increments. Thanks to him I saved a lot of time. That being said, I still love this polisher and its top-notch ride. However, if I had the chance again, I would buy the 15mm version instead. I had 6 inch pads with Meguiar and handled corners and small areas quite well. I just think this polisher is for big cars and projects, mostly flat screens. The 15mm version gives you more versatility without the need for a brand new base plate/polisher.
