Review on RCA U1000 Dect_6 0 10 Handset Telephone by Ebony Shaw

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pretty good feature set. However, some annoying problems.

all the good outweighs the bad. The Bad: Music on hold is awful because no matter what volume you record, it's either horribly distorted or too quiet. No display when music on hold stops recording. There is no information in the instructions. You have to guess and the pantomime still doesn't work properly. Message duration has been changed from unlimited to either 2 or 5 minutes. Instructions are not updated. Technical support barely understands the printed instructions, which are pretty lame. No useful explanations of the functions, long and complex formulations that are useless. Tech support was polite but idiotic. So you have to find out everything yourself. Phone displays are very small and difficult to read. Blue backlight does not improve readability. To answer a call on the handset you need to study the instructions very carefully as the buttons are small and the interface is NOT intuitive. I was still messing around with phones. There are two types of desktop machines. One is the "master" and the other is the wireless version that plugs into the wall for power. This is a great idea as it gives users the ability to have a fully featured desktop in multiple locations if required. The desktop sets have readable displays. Most functions are intuitive. Setup can be frustrating, especially because it's not intuitive, the instructions are poor, and the tech support isn't helpful. Technical support is located in the United States. The phones are available for around $50 each. Sound quality and range are excellent. All in all, it's a goalkeeper. I wish they would think things through a little more because then it would be a great product and not generic. There aren't many options on 4-line phones that I've seen, so I went with this one. My previous Panasonic system was in bad shape but this newer system is superior. I think for the price you should expect some compromises. It's certainly an affordable, fairly feature-rich choice, but it's not great and it's not very cool.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • so far so good
