I ordered these 2 to replace my device that I was using that worked through SMARTTHINGS. When they sold out I can no longer use the old performance monitor. It looked like a good but expensive monitor replacement. So I paid over $150 for this Emporia Vue device. It arrived yesterday (Friday) so like everything I buy I get a manual 2. Read about it. With my electrical background I already knew how to install 2, just wanted to read up on how it works and how energy usage is tracked. IMMEDIATELY I KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THE DEVICE COMES WITH NO OWNER'S MANUAL OR OWNER'S MANUAL. "RED FLAG #1". All it says is download the app and install the information there. They think that if you spend over $150 on a product you will get INSTRUCTIONS. After downloading the app from the Play Store, I started looking for manuals. You need to 2 select the device 2 and get the correct PDF file. RED FLAG #2, THERE IS NO CORRECT MODEL ON THE BOX OR DEVICE, ONLY S/N#. So after reading all the different manual pdfs (my pick 2, read them all) I found that you created an account and provided all your personal information, first child's name, etc., and then the company lays it ALL YOUR INFORMATION IN CLOUD THEY FROM CONTROL, YOU HAVE NO CHOICE, RED FLAG #3. It's not a device that you buy and plug into your panel, which can be very dangerous if you have limited knowledge of electricity. Then sit back and check the app 2 see what happens, don't even try 2 make some changes 2 a program to help you track better YOU CAN'T, YOUR PROGRAM IS A PRIORITY FOR YOU, RED FLAG #4 I found that ALL YOUR ELECTRICAL USE, personal information, information about your phone β everything is stored in the cloud that you own and don't control. Period. 2 Homeowners just want to know about their energy consumption, n how to reduce the consumption of certain household appliances or see how they use the most. There's no reason in this world (other than your energy company) 2. Track information and store it in the cloud, which gives you limited access. METER can be used by clamping each wire in the circuit (only 1 wire at a time) and getting the same reading. Set the mode to 4 times a day, 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and evening, check the readings by setting the average usage and then check, maybe weekly. Create Your Own Chart and SAVE $150. Keep your private/personal information out of the hands of another country. There are so many reasons why 2 DO NOT USE. I had 2 and gave it 1 star. My device. It's already packed. More than 45 years of experience in electrical and automotive systems in the field of control and programming. This is one of those items that I would never use.
