This jacket protects against heavy snowfall and light but steady rain. Haven't used it in heavy rain yet. So far it has kept me dry without feeling soaked. I love all of its features. The hood is big enough but not too big and fully adjustable. The jacket can easily be worn over a close-fitting down jacket and thin fleece. The fabric is soft and slightly stretchy. No friction noise like some nylon projectiles.
