This phone works exactly like my Pixel 2XL at half the price. Pros: Low cost, incredible camera, Google ecosystem, battery life, headphone jack. Cons: a bit buggy. Phone app, cheaper materials, not entirely waterproof, no wireless charging, headphones included. I was a little hesitant to risk an upgrade, but I'm so glad I did. I bought the 3A XL in magenta and the color is great. Battery life was great, surprisingly better than my Pixel 2XL. Note that I disabled some digital feel-good features within an hour of initial setup, which improved speed and extended battery life. The display is nice and the return of the headphone jack was a nice surprise (I don't know about you, but I kept losing my dongle when I really needed it). However, it lacks some key features. Model compared to 3XL, first of all the lack of wireless charging and waterproofing. Another important difference is that the materials are definitely cheaper. It doesn't look or feel as cheap as the iPhone 5C, for example. The rear just doesn't have the same shine as the 2XL or 3XL. I definitely recommend putting a screen protector on the device just before use as the glass on the front is not that durable. It doesn't look or feel cheap though, it just isn't as premium as other Pixel devices. I could probably write a whole page about how amazing the camera is, but this is something you really have to experience for yourself. Night Sight blew me away. I took a photo of my living room in near pitch black time and a) I could see more in the photo than I could see with the naked eye in the dark and b) to be honest it looked like the daytime from the photo was recorded around 4:00 p.m. The amount of light in the image. The portrait mode on every pixel is fantastic. I've been asked if many of the pictures I've taken with Pixel phones are professional photos, and I'm really not the best photographer. Sure, based on my past experience with Google it won't be long before it gets fixed. I've noticed that when I'm on a call, the phone sometimes has trouble displaying contact names on the screen when I'm switching from one call to another. Luckily, the device settings have built-in the ability to instantly chat with Google support staff. I did it without a timeout. Very helpful! Considering the switch from an iPhone? I would recommend ignoring other online reviews advising you against it and just giving it a try. (Just remember that if you have a newer iPhone, you'll need to compare your current device's features like wireless charging first). My first experience of switching from Apple to Google (iPhone to Pixel 2XL) was smooth. Everything is transmitted through the cable and adapter indicated in the box. (Of course, except for my Apple Music collection, but that's what Spotify is for!) New to Google? The Google ecosystem as a whole is doing incredibly well. I have Google smart home products at home and use Google Photos and Gmail/Google Calendar/g Suite etc. Every day I am amazed at new ways of collaborating. Finally PRICE! New version, good phone at such a low price? This is a GAME CHANGE. That was the deciding factor for me in deciding to upgrade, and it's totally worth the cost. In fact, a phone with such a good camera is just a bargain at this price point.
