This belt is a disappointment. It consists of two thin layers of "veneer" that look like leather, with black plastic in between. I know this because I had to make a few extra holes. The base is rough and brittle. I don't know if it will hold up without tearing. I can try lube. The outer layer has an unusual color - not like dyed leather, and the pattern in it is not embossed, but molded almost like plastic. Others have noticed that the edges have chipped - I can see how that can happen. It looks like a plastic frame. It feels stiff when worn. The belt gave off a strong solvent odor when removed from the packaging. The buckle is quite nice, not flashy, aged silver. I bought a Tony Lama men's floral leather belt for my son in the same order. This belt is LEATHER. It smells nice and feels stretchy when worn. I swapped out the buckles on these straps because Tony Lama's buckle is bright silver - my son won't like that flashy look. I made it old and hung it on my belt (Ariat). I will not buy Aria again. I read the reviews but hoped the title meant something. By the way, both belts are made in China, but there is no comparison.
