We LOVE this thing. We have a very STRONG and exuberant TALE, 7 years old who has ADHD and severe autism, this works wonders so we can close doors to keep the child out of trouble and have our door open without locking it and us could hear better than with the door closed. It makes me nervous when the door is pushed open, but so far they hold everything. You can mount them as high as you need - if your child can reach the top of the door, they probably aren't safe. Just my opinion - we would ASK to go to the hospital with any injuries if we let our child climb that high even at 7 years old. lol I think they'll be doing their thing for at least 3 more years. REALLY WISH THE DOOR MONKEY ACTED LONGER! I'll try to get in touch - I think more people will agree, if a little longer it would be great to keep kids and dogs out of the rooms you want your cat to be allowed in (e.g. the toilet and/or the Meal. ). We've tried so many other things including a fancy door latch made specifically for this and it was useless junk. The door monkey would be fine if it had about 3-4 inches more room.
