Review on πŸ’» Logitech MK200 Media Combo: Full-Size Keyboard with High-Definition Optical Mouse by Adam Shuler

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Poor build quality and high failure rate

This combination has a beautiful design. The keyboard doesn't break with tradition, all keys are placed in their places (the calculator key is a nice touch). The mouse is the right size/height and has a nice scroll wheel. Tactile satisfaction is good and $20 is fine. But in the last year I've bought THREE of these MK200 combos and each had a major flaw. For the first combo, the spacebar on the keyboard was wobbly and only worked when pressed in a specific spot. On the second, the mouse wheel was stiff and inaccurate. So I traded it in for a third combo, which was good at first, but now three months later the keyboard is behaving strangely. Sometimes when I press Shift + a letter key, one of the two just doesn't register, often resulting in typos. The Enter key on the numeric keypad also toggles on and off on a whim. If that's not enough, the mouse starts registering single clicks as double clicks, making the whole thing a buggy concert. If my calculations are correct, 3 out of 3 samples are 100% out of the calculation. Worse, Logitech's customer service reps seem to be trying to buck the warranty - it took about ten emails before they relented despite my clear proof of purchase and warranty period. Avoid this product and avoid this company.

Pros
  • Comfortable, low-profile keys. Enjoy fast, fluid, silent typing on a familiar standard layout, including a numeric keypad.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
