I just built a new computer and the case doesn't have USB 2.0 ports nor does the very good ASUS X570 motherboard, it has plenty of USB 3.2 Gen2 ports which is great but for things like my mouse, keyboard etc. I only need USB 2.0 ports. I don't know if that's the case now, but many years ago it was the case that plugging USB 2.0 devices into USB 3.0 ports could slow down other ports. This may seem very old, may be outdated information, but I connect a lot of things to my computer anyway, and I didn't want to mess around with an external hub just for USB 2.0 devices, since my MB still has two USB 2 ports on the board (each handling 2 ports can), this was a great one Solution: It uses two connectors and provides the expected 4 ports, each connector supports 2. As a side: why would anyone build a slot with a connector leading to a header that supports 2 ports and only provides one? It works well and costs around $8. The only thing to note is that unlike the Power Hub, it only supplies 5V by default, so very little power to the ports. That's fine for mice, keyboards, etc., but if you need more power, you'll need a powered hub, as there are still plenty of devices that are happy with USB 2.0 speeds but need more power.
