My first Garmin was a smaller version of this unit, a newer model with a larger screen made it easier to use. I've made good use of the first part and have updated the map twice since I bought it. The first one I gave to my son is still working after about 5 years of continuous use. Setting up these devices is very easy, and I love the fact that you can pre-program multiple routes (to walk) and then just choose where you want to go. Before getting the second one I decided to try another brand, I still have this one but am not happy with the performance. It shows the map while driving, but then defaults to demo mode and stays in demo mode until you decide to show the map again. It turned out to be such a problem that I bought another Garmin. The demo mode eventually bored me because I had to call the factory to give me the "secret" recipe on how to get rid of it. Avoid headaches and use Garmin. You can't go wrong. I was particularly pleased that I received my Garmin two days after ordering from Revain - great service!
