As others have repeatedly said insulated wire is not 4 gauge. I have an old 4 gauge reel but needed extra wire to add, not necessarily 4 gauge wire. This wire was just the right size for what I needed, but not 4 gauge wire. Why did I buy it when it was clearly described as not 4 gauge? Well, 25 ft. 6 is still more expensive than this product in regular stores. I gave 3 stars for the price; I took 2 b/c it's not 4 gauge as advertised. It is thicker than 8 gauge, although an 8 gauge compression fitting will do. The actual product consists of thin stranded copper wire with a diameter of about 4-4.5mm; with an insulation diameter of approx. 8-8.5 mm. These measurements result in a 6 gauge roundabout. As it is less than 4.5mm it is not really a 5 gauge and if it is greater than 4mm it is greater than a 7 gauge. Although the insulator is thick enough for normal applications, it's not part of the wire measurement as I'm sure the Pyramid Power folks know. Please review your application and understand the differences/limitations of 6Gauge and 4Gauge.
