No need to buy third-party protection! The device looks and feels premium: durable plastic body, large rubber grip/shell, durable battery cover, easy-to-navigate controls and features. (After using the controller 3-4 times you will remember which button does what.) (Only 4 buttons on the device itself) - The main power switch is flat and has two functions like the laser itself. - Pumping " lock-n-place". This switch requires some force to turn on and off, making accidents almost unbelievable - The device will not work if the self-leveling function is OFF (pendulum is blocked): - There are several mounting options: both the device itself and the mounting bracket have metal inserts Equipped with steel (or metal alloy) internal threads on the shackle. (This unit did not come with a tripod, but a tripod can be used. I checked the registration of the lines on the wall and floor on a large steel square: accurate. The unit looks accurate, at least up close. I have the level line on one with Water-filled, transparent vinyl tube stretched 16 feet: Accurate - Projection line is clearly visible in a brightly lit room (Dim modes help in darker environments) - Projection line is sharp and clear - Defined and approximately 1/16" ( 1.6mm thick) at a distance of 10ft from the device.(After about 70-75ft I noticed a slight distortion in the integrity of the beam. The beam thickness would increase slightly. 5-1mm._- The built-in rechargeable battery definitely lasts the advertised 10 hours of operation with the laser on low power level I worked continuously for about 8 hours at full brightness - Instructions are written in clear English - Green light i s visible both indoors and in the bright outdoor area Wow! - You can use this tool to do any commissioned work, from installing stands to tiling showers to installing cabinets! - This tool takes the guesswork out of you by keeping every job you do direct and correct.
