I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps that many of you have already gone through. I had no idea the mechanism that controlled the tailgate latch had anything to do with how the damn thing went up and down. Well after reading how it really is I finally broke down and bought this one. Looks the same, but way cheaper than Chevy wanted. I installed it anyway. So, after a few weeks of heavy use, I'm very glad I made this purchase. Be sure to watch the replacement video. It's very simple, you just have to watch the video so you know how much effort it takes to unclip the clips. Take the time to return all clips as they should be. You can do it yourself, but it's good to have a third hand.
