Comes in a lovely peach colored outer box. It's very simple: just a brand name, what I would call a tagline, and an Instagram handle. It doesn't say where it was made or anything like that. Inside, the brush is housed in a plastic case that is sealed. I liked it. You should have cut it. Inside was the brush in another plastic container, and on top of the brush was a plastic thing. peach brush handle. On one side is the brand name, on the other the brush number and label ("226 Detail Eyeshadowโ). The hair is short and soft. As I ran my fingers through my hair, I noticed a pile of dust coming off it, but also small pieces. I took a close-up of the hair to show this. I also made a video of me swiping my finger and you can clearly see a bunch of stuff flying out of my hair. For a brush that costs this much ($33 at the time of writing this review), I expect more! Since the brush was sealed in a sleeve that I had to cut open, I figured I wouldn't have to worry about the brush getting dirty. I'm really shocked about this! Even from the cheap kits I got I never had it! I know it's a natural bristle brush, but I have a lot of natural bristle brushes and I've never had one like this. That's rough. I always wash my brushes before using them, but I was really willing to just throw this one away without even trying because it just disgusted me with everything that came out of it. But I decided to wash and try. I'm glad I did because I love it. The brush is called a detailed shadow brush. It's great for detailing. It packs eye shadow, applies eye shadow right where you want it, it's great for lower lash line, inner corner highlighter and brow line highlighter. It's soft. It absorbs the product well and applies it well. It's a nice brush to hold and works well. This brush costs a whopping $33! This is an insanely expensive eyeshadow brush! I'm a makeup freak and I love makeup brushes. I have tried many brushes from cheap to expensive. I've had great cheap ones and crappy affordable ones just as I've had great expensive ones and crappy expensive ones. My favorite natural bristle brushes are the Rephr brushes. These are hand cut Japanese brushes. So expensive. Rephr's eye brushes are $24, so this brush is even more expensive than this one! If you go to Rephr's website you can read all about how they make their brushes, what types of hair they use, etc. I had never heard of "Tool Lab" before, so I did a little research on the brand. . I went to their website. There I looked at Brand Story and it said that the founder of The Tool Lab "delivered quality products at a reasonable price". Personally, I don't think $33 is a "reasonable price" for a small eyeshadow brush. For a quality natural bristle eyeshadow brush, I'd say around $20-$25 is reasonable. $33 will be a little more expensive. The Brand Story page talks constantly about how they make quality products and what an "instrumentalist" is, but nothing about how the brushes are made or what hair they use. If you go to the product page for this particular brush, it says the same thing as the Revain product page: natural bristle brush, aluminum tip, wooden handle. But it doesn't say what kind of natural hair he uses. I think if they want you to spend $33 on an eyeshadow brush, they should be more specific about what type of hair they use so you know what quality of hair to expect. Not all natural hair is created equal. Overall I don't know what to do with this brush. I love it but I have other brushes in the same style that cost a lot less. Rephr brushes never have random things flying out of their hair. I would take one of these brushes over this one and save a few bucks. So I cannot recommend this brush. Yes, it works great. If you like the shape don't mind the fact that you have one with dust/dirt/or whatever in your hair and the price isn't an issue then I would say go for it as it worked really well and I liked it when I washed it. But at this price point, not only do I expect the brush to be made of quality materials and work well, I also expect quality control to leave the brush free of dirt/dust/etc. keeps in hair. For this reason I only give this brush 3 stars.
