Review on πŸ‘¨ CHEF iQ Smart Pressure Cooker: 10 Cooking Functions, Built-in Scale, 1000+ Presets, and App-Enabled for Foolproof Guided Recipes by Matt Eason

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The best pressure cooker there is.

I used to have an Instant Pot, but I absolutely hated its crappy UI. Neither my wife nor my best friend could understand his foolish management. Then one day after turning it on, he just said "Pop!" and smoke came out of the vents. It went in the trash. I decided to try the Chef iQ and bought it last January. It worked beautifully, this gh, once the app crashed in the middle of a recipe (out of maybe 30-40 recipes cooked) and although after restarting the app I saw the cooker running that recipe, I couldn't get it myself booted it back up and didn't start from scratch which was frustrating but just managed to catch up to the step where it crashed and carried on with no further problems. Aside from that one issue, this stove worked perfectly. I'll get back to the app and some of its weaknesses/flaws, but first I'd like to address what was needed in some reviews. First to the user Jude, who pointed out that the company is in China and the device is full. Spy Chips. A company called RJ Brands, LLC is located in Mahwah, New Jersey. Last time I checked, New Jersey wasn't in China. Correct me, I'm wrong (rolls eyes). Chef iQ is developed in the US and its production is simply outsourced to China, like the vast majority of products made over the last few decades. Manufacturing in the USA is simply not feasible these days due to the extremely high labor costs in the USA. Then there's the sheer absurdity of spying on your cooking habits. Some people drink too much of that idiot conspirator. They also have a VERY concise and clear privacy policy, so do your research before jumping to absurd conclusions. Next, regarding the overheating message. I've seen this a few times but I've never had to add extra liquid. I just moved well and kept going. The error didn't appear again. Easy. However, if the error occurs repeatedly after PRECISE MIXING AND adding liquid, the device may simply be defective. Call their support team. I've called a few times with questions to inquire about purchasing an additional inner pot and to inquire about lids. They were very kind and referred me to their website which has these items for sale, however the "Accessories" link is not in the navigation menu, it is on the bottle m on each page in the fine print where I just missed it . . Oops. Not the best website design, but not the worst either. Now back to the application. It's not perfect, and it lacks what I personally consider a key feature: the ability to create and save your own recipes. It also prevents you from being able to easily change recipes. For example, I love baked beans and there's a good recipe for them, but they're based on canned beans, not dried beans. I prefer dried beans, which takes about 40 minutes total to pressure cook, plus 20 minutes to cook the beans, then sautΓ© the bacon, maple syrup, brown sugar, etc., then add the beans back in and continue. Pressure cook for another 20 minutes. It's just a bit of a hassle to boil the beans and then carry out the recipe by changing the cook time from 3 to 20 minutes, but it made some of the best baked beans I've ever had and it took less than 12 hours . like cooking them the old fashioned way. Another quibble of mine is that you can't change the number of servings in a recipe. I would also like a smarter shopping list feature, but that's enough. If they address these little quibbles, I would give the Chef iQ 5 stars. But I will say it. I will be buying another one this Christmas so I can cook more complex recipes at the same time instead of switching inner pots step by step like I do now.
