I like the spaetzle maker and I'm glad it's made of stainless steel, although I'd like 100% stainless steel. The base of the retractable part is plastic and I'm afraid it will be a weak point and will break under heavy use. The secret to easy cleaning is to immediately rinse the dough in cold water or completely submerge it in cold water until you're ready to wash it. Cold water is key. I learned this tip in a bread baking class.
