I bought this unit to put next to the parrot cage. I have to tell you, in the last 25 years I've had at least four expensive devices ($350-700). The parrot is 20 years old and is the number one reason I need an air purifier that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I've never seen anyone perform as well as this one. never. When it arrived I couldn't wait to plug it in and get started. I knew I would have to test the filters for 2 or 3 days to see what was picked up. So I went ahead and pocketed it and placed it about 2 feet from the cage. I ran it manually at maximum speed to start the process. I literally watched as small particles ran towards the device. I observed when the sun was shining to better observe the results. What I really like the most is that the dust is drawn in from the bottom of the device near the floor. where dust collects. It makes PERFECT sense to me. Clean air is blown out at the top of the back to maintain air circulation. The fact that it looks nice is wonderful, but honestly. it could look like a fire hydrant and I wouldn't care. I just needed one that works. Within two days I noticed that I no longer had to sweep the cage as often. and when I swept the little downy feathers were sucked up by the rabbit when they fell less than 8 inches below the ground. Two days passed and I took the pad outside to see what else was being collected. I was surprised. The top layer filter was full of large feathers and very fine dust. The second filter (activated carbon) contained even smaller particles. but it's as far back as the dust has gone. It wasn't in the hepa filter. I tapped all three filters on the bottom to remove large particles, then vacuumed them up and put them back in. Now I check every week since I've had such a dirty boy, but it only takes a minute at most. The design couldn't be more perfect. To speed up the process of air purification, I have a small cordless handheld fan that I will use to stir the room air. It only takes 10 seconds to pull down curtains or mini blinds. Here's what I don't really understand. As terrible as the air quality was when I first set it up, when I set it to "Auto" it switched to the lowest setting and stayed there for an hour. The air quality must have been extremely bad. I turned on the ionizer and it's 100% odor free. I can tell it's on just by the light letting me know. Again, I'm not sure. What I do know is that I had average expectations and this machine performs like a workhorse. I had it maybe 5 weeks. Two more things: #1. This was not a free trial. I bought it for myself not knowing what to expect. #2. I have never written such a long review.
