My cat loves playing in running water, so I thought "Why not?". I got this one week ago.and she hissed and growled at it. She didn't want anything to do with it. I figure I had wasted my money. But, morning of day seven, I actually caught her drinking from it. Be patient with your pet. It does take some "getting used to it" time.It is very quiet. I'm sitting less than 3 feet from it right now and don't hear it at all, except for the occasional gurgle of water. It was pretty easy to clean and set up.I was surprised though. I thought I had seen somewhere either in other reviews or in the faqs that it didn't come with a power brick (has a USB cable). But that wasn't a deal breaker. I have a box of old USB bricks. After I cleaned it and put it together, there was one small unmarked box that the instructions didn't mention. I opened it and it was a power brick.I may eventually get another one to put in a different room so that she has her choice of where to drink.
