I was a little worried they might look too gray but they weren't. I would say it's a color reminiscent of natural wood, a lovely color that goes well with fruit as advertised. I'm so glad I ordered them! I was looking for the perfect bread basket and here it is! I just place a clean, pretty tea towel in the bottom of the basket, put some hand-sliced bread in it, and then fold the remaining towel over it to keep the bread warm. Works great. These baskets are large, not too bulky on the dining table. They're strong - not flimsy, flaky, or chipped (like some old-style baskets, yuk). The fabric of this basket is soft and pleasant to the touch. Perfect for bread, fruit, napkins, cutlery or even in a gift basket. I would definitely buy them again.
