Review on 🔌 HiLetgo FT232RL FTDI Mini USB to TTL Serial Converter Adapter Module 3.3V 5.5V FT232R Breakout Review by Ben Diesel

Seems they had a bad batch of these chips in their distribution center recently and the supplier is aware of the issue. I've ordered a few of these and kept sending them back because they got hot and then my computer shut down the USB port due to too much power consumption. The HiLetGo seller has always been supportive and cooperative, hence 5 stars for customer support! They sent me a replacement and gave me a full refund with no issues. I have used this chip with OSX 10.12.6 and Arduino IDE 1.8.5. HOW TO FIX IT: You need to reverse the polarity of the diode marked J106 and then everything will work fine. The printed text should face the USB port. See the photos attached to this review, I have clearly marked them. Hope that helps!
