They are of such quality that the round part of the needle will return to its normal configuration whether you rotate the needle for storage or not. I use a wedge heel when turning my heel. The way the needle springs back keeps the needle in place but doesn't interfere with the heel patch on straight double-tipped needles. The lifting part is then in the gripping position and continues to form the wedge part. I love her. I have been knitting socks for over 30 years. The best I've found. I think I've tried them all.
