It was recommended to me by my brother many years ago when I was buying supplies for a painting class and it works great with both synthetic and natural hair brushes, it's definitely not the best in the world and assorted brush cleaners are inferior to it, but for the price and quality it's worth investing in a few small tubs at a time. The soap cake itself lasts a long time and is also great for my makeup brushes and makeup sponges. Because it's not a liquid, you can fling makeup sponges in it without wasting unnecessary product while getting a lot of makeup out at the same time. I usually wash my makeup sponge with this soap, before I apply my day make-up. Cleaning takes no more than a minute or two.
