Revised Review After Verifying Replacement - Really Impressive Customer Service!

I first posted the negative review below, and almost immediately after posting it, the owner of the company not only gave me a loan, but also sent me an email confirming that he had a had production problem. He also offered to send me a replacement immediately and asked me to call him personally. So I called and he answered on Sunday. As a background, I bought this solenoid over a year ago but only installed it last weekend so I'm past the warranty period and they had no obligation to fix my problem. Issue. I was very impressed that he admitted they had problems with the production/supplier and replaced units. He explained that some people don't realize that these types of valves are not designed to deliver current (ie, need to stay in the on/open position). over a Long period of time. The valve is opened by an electromagnet which naturally generates some heat over time. That's perfectly reasonable and consistent with additional research I've done. It also suited my specific need (to open the low pressure LPG line in the boat/RV during cooking and automatically shut off the supply when the switch is turned off). I've also found this to be consistent with other solenoids. He went on to explain that there are better solutions for valves that need to be kept open for long periods of time. I fitted a replacement and am happy to report that although the magnet is warm it is much colder than the first, consumption has gone up from 2 amps on the first block to around 1.2 amps on the replacement. As sailors we are always concerned about battery drain as we sail for many hours without starting the engine. Therefore, we do not want to drain the battery unnecessarily. In short, I am very impressed by someone who cares enough about their business - to fix an issue even after the warranty period has expired - and quite frankly, when a manufacturing or delivery problem is discovered. Now I will do my best to shop at US Solid in the future. FIRST REVIEW: I bought this valve because I needed to overhaul the system on my boat about a year ago. I finally replaced my old solenoid which was pretty rusty but still worked. After plugging it in, it got VERY hot, the outside temperature exceeded 180 degrees. Now I have to replace it right after putting it on. I see they no longer sell this block.
