I bought this device from PowerOptical. The first device delivered was compatible with Apple (LG brand) but not Apple branded as stated in the product description. I bought a unit to connect to a friend's aluminum iMac to replace a broken unit with no warranty. Due to time constraints, I decided to use the device supplied, although technically it did not meet the specifications. There was an error. Device error in disc record and eject area. I called PowerOptical and we decided that I would buy a second device (Apple branded this time) and they would refund my money on the first device when they got it. They sent me a free shipping label. I found her sociable, approachable and quite active in solving this problem. The second device arrived, installed well and according to my friend it works great so I'm happy. When using this for Apple repair and purchase from PowerOptical, just make sure you insist on an Apple branded device.
