I was hoping that the scratching post with the bed would encourage my cat to scratch, but my item was defective. The bed component was loose and when I tried to pull the drawstring to secure it like the photos, the drawstring broke. Without attachment, the bed is very unstable. I thought about coming up with something else - like leaving the round disc just for the platform. However, the mounting screw actually protrudes through the underside (not enough to puncture the finish, but enough to be uncomfortable). Even with the pillow I can still feel it. These issues aside, it connects easily and seems stable. When I send the components to the garbage collector on the street, I can leave a scratching piece to see if my cat uses it alone as a scratching toy because it's small and easy to store.
