Review on MÜHLE TRADITIONAL R89 Double Edge Safety Razor: The Ultimate Barbershop Quality Razor for a Close, Smooth Shave by Sara Daly

Wow! If I had to sum it up in one word.

Well, the shaver arrived today. I had growth for a week. I wanted to see how he dealt with being tall, so I didn't shave until he showed up. Before that I had a Rocky Mountain Barber Co safety razor and a Gillette King C safety razor. I paired the razor with a spring blade. I usually stay away from feathers because they were always too sharp and I felt like my face was burning. I usually use Persona Blades unless I have more than a week of growth. This straight razor paired with a feather blade was a dream come true. Every hit was smooth. The first pass eliminated almost all hair. The second pass was enough for a medium shave. But I like to shave at night every time, so I did the third pass against the hair. Zero fire. Even I'm a little. If you have sensitive skin, don't be afraid to use this razor. It's a very aggressive razor, but it's exactly what you need. The grip on the handle could have been better. It doesn't slip smoothly from hands, but not as persistently as we'd like. I've read of a lot of people having trouble threading and breaking the stem off the baseplate, so I smeared some petroleum jelly on the handle before first use to prevent corrosion. I'm not sure if this is a great first razor, but I definitely think it's the perfect, if not the best, second razor. Just because a more aggressive razor requires a lighter touch, and using cartridge razors in combination with feathered blades flattens your face. If this is your first razor, get a King C razor and a box of custom blades as it's more forgiving. After about 30-50 shaves. BUY THIS RAZOR and some Feather Blades.
