on your chair or on your table, it works great. Has 3 settings. Battery life will vary depending on the high settings you use, but will last several hours on a single charge. The folding aspect is great. It's also the first one I've seen that actually clicks into place when closed. Easy to adjust to the desired height. You can also add water for a foggy effect, but I don't find that attractive. The biggest downsides of a fan are that 1) the buttons are tiny and not clearly labeled so if you lose the remote it becomes cumbersome to use 2) there is no space on top of the fan to store the remote 3) the beauty Light is useless
