Picked up for great reviews on cnet, pcmag.com and pc world. Setup was pretty easy. Basically plug and play. Just follow the prompts to connect your peripherals and you're all set. The order in which the peripherals are turned on is VERY IMPORTANT. First the modem, then the router, then the PC. There were a few issues for not following this sequence, but once I did that there were no tweaks or settings to tweak, it just worked. The only settings I would advise you to change is the router password, change it from the default. On paper, the features of this device are great. Not many products use the 5GHz band, so this feature isn't very useful right now. This should change in the future. This device replaced my old router and access point so I traded 2 devices for 1, less clutter and cables are always a good thing. The main issue I had with this device is the crappy range. Signal strength is excellent up close. But at about 25 feet, my tablet only shows a signal bar. I can see other nearby Wi-Fi devices on my tablet, and most of them have a stronger signal than the router in my own house, 25 feet away! Contacted Netgear support and there was no help. Other than updating the firmware and making some changes to the settings, they didn't do anything else for me. I was asked to buy a Wi-Fi extender to boost the signal! I'm only 25 feet away, the walls are just drywall and the signal strength is barely a bar. However, my tablet shows my neighbors WiFi on another floor with a great signal! If I could repeat that again, I would not buy this device. If you need a gigabit router, this works great. If you want to use WiFi within 3m of your router, you should get this device. Otherwise I would look elsewhere. This router is very expensive compared to other models and the performance is not enough to justify the higher price.
