Our VUR10 remote (with slide out keyboard) stopped working stably after about a year (probably because our daughter liked to just open and then close the keyboard - just for fun); This will disconnect the small ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the top of the remote (SO DO NOT MOVE THE KEYBOARD unless you have to) so we wanted to replace the remote. > $60 for a VUR-10 keyboard remote was insanely expensive since we rarely used the keyboard anyway. So the price of this VR17 was right and it works great with our Vizio TV and we don't have to worry about the ribbon cable coming loose after a few months. Keep in mind that the VR17 is NOT a Bluetooth remote like the VUR10. , so the remote control must be in sight for it to work. The VR17 seems to be a very good IR remote though, as it works even when the remote isn't pointed directly at the TV - in fact, it even worked for me when it was pointed at the ceiling!
