The resulting cable had not one, but two wonderfully hidden defects that worked for a few weeks, then began to fail occasionally, eventually rendering the cable unusable. The return period has of course expired. At autopsy I found a clean break, no fatigue, on two power cords, red on one end, black on the other. The break occurred within the inner liner, foil wrap, woven screen, outer liner and mold. The gap practically fell apart when I stripped the wire. I checked the voltage on the other power wire at each end and couldn't break it. i am not weak (More than 99% of any conductor of electricity is very heavy. Which doesn't help at all.) I've seen similar breaks in other USB cables from another source. I suspect a system error. It's as if a conventional machine were to position the cable by grabbing and pulling on the first solder wire on each end, breaking that conductor. I'm starting to doubt if I'll ever find a USB charging cable that lasts more than a month. or so normal use. And if I catch it early will the seller replace it if I have to strip the wires to show it's defective? Wire to roll my own charging cables.
