Review on REDCAMP Waterproof Rain Pants With Zipper For Hiking & Camping - Lightweight & Durable Black Unisex Design by Christina Potter

not waterproof - my new review

The good:- Ultra-lightweight pants- Leg zippers are positioned in the back of the leg (instead of on the side) which should prevent seepage from oncoming spray while riding a motorcycle through the rain. The bad:- The pants leak water immediately, at the seat, where four seams come together. This is unacceptable for motorcycle riders as we literally "sit in a puddle of water" for hours while riding in the rain.- The leg zippers are not long enough to allow easy on/off when wearing adventure type motorcycle boots.- The pocket zippers are unprotected (no flap covering the zippers), which means water can leak into the pockets, and from there through the unwelded pocket seams into the pants. The ugly:- The right side pocket of the pants I was shipped had a huge hole in it because the inner pocket seam was not completed/was not finished (see picture). Maybe they ran out of yarn and nobody bothered to check the pocket? Where is the quality control?Summary, updated October 2021: I have now tested five (5) so-called "waterproof" rain pants, and not a single one passed the "bathroom sink" test. The worst offenders leaked after a few seconds. All leaked after a few minutes. It's inconceivable to me why manufactures can't figure out how to construct a rain pant that doesn't leak at the seat; motorcyclists sit in a puddle of water for hours, especially while touring. How can this be so difficult? If you know of any truly waterproof pants please send me a link - I will continue to test and report.

Pros
  • Got what I was looking for. Lightweight and packable. So far so good!
Cons
  • May not offer enough protection in the event of unexpected weather changes or emergencies
