I only tested it as a radio. I haven't checked the recording or MP3 features. This is a solid little performer. The AM DX performance is satisfactory and the AM antenna is fairly directional. From my location (West Hollywood, California) I was able to receive WWV and even WWVH in Hawaii (female), but it was covered in a thick layer of hash. I suspect this is an issue with my environment, not the receiver. It's powered by a BL-5C battery, which is basically a cell phone battery, and charged via a USB port. A USB cable is included for this purpose. The BL-5C is a standard part available on the aftermarket including Revain, but to my surprise I couldn't find a battery at Mouser or Digi-Key. One star deducted because case markings are gray on black and can be difficult to find. read. White on black would be the best choice. This makes entering frequencies manually somewhat cumbersome. For $22, it delivers a high-performance radio.
