I have a very picky little girl who looks like the princess on the pea. I took a chance and am still impressed. They're not ideal for very cold weather unless your boots are well insulated, but they're good quality, lightweight cool-weather socks that don't have a built-in heel cup. That's why they can be worn in any size and it just matters how high up the leg they go. I didn't notice until they came. However, I wore a black and white pair just to intrigue my daughter and I may be ordering a second set for myself now that she's decided she likes them. FYI, I'm a size 8.5, I'm 5'4" and the socks were just below the knee and stayed in place all workday. I think they stretched a bit even though they were pulled up on the legs .
