Review on GlasGarten Bacter AE: Enhanced Shrimp Tank Treatment for Optimal Health and Water Conditions by Dave Weber

I am writing this review late. Please read my entire review before you get mad at me. The only reason I give stars is because so many other people are raving about this product, but I have to be honest I haven't seen any benefit from this product. With so many other people swearing by it, I have to keep in mind that, for whatever reason, my experience is rare and I don't want to downgrade a good product if I've had an extremely rare experience. I'm not trying to say there is no benefit or that this product is bad, I'm just saying I see no benefit. Maybe people just see what they want to see. How can they really know if this stuff works or not? My shrimp were colorful and thriving long before, during and after using this product. I'm a very observant person, I spend a lot of time observing my shrimp tanks and can't say I've noticed any improvement or difference with use in any way. If I understand correctly, this should help grow the biofilm present there (especially baby shrimp) and also improve the condition of the water. I didn't see any noticeable increase in either of them. I would imagine that people can only observe this if the shrimp spends more time cleaning (eating/grazing) the surface of one object before moving on to another (meaning more biofilm = more time is needed to eat it) if you notice that the biofilm is growing faster than before (that's not what you're seeing anyway) and if your baby shrimp's growth rate increases. I can honestly say I haven't noticed any of this and I monitor the growth rate of my baby shrimp very closely, to the point where I keep detailed records and logs on my computer (I've been growing and selling Neocaridina to my LFS for years ). The bacterium works for a while so I had time to observe the effects and after it was gone I never bought it again and my shrimp feel just as good as before. :/ What I can say with certainty is that the bacterium did not harm my aquarium and shrimp. The price isn't unreasonable, especially if it does what it says on the tin, so that's a big plus. They could easily charge a lot more for this product but instead they keep the prices low which I respect. Again, I'm not saying this is a bad product, I'm not implying anyone is lying. I could very well be wrong, this has happened before :p, this is just my experience.
