Review on πŸ” Airthings 2930 Quality Monitoring Dashboard by Jeremy Choi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Radon detection was C at best. Overall a very comprehensive detector with good performance.

Detection Accuracy: RADON - CTVOC Accuracy - A+CO2 - HUMIDITY - TEMP - PRESSURE - AAdvantage: This is a multifunctional detector that is easy to use. Phone app - 5/5 stars. It tracks 48 hours, 1 week, 1 month and even 1 year! The charts used are easy to read and interactive. Choosing different options and different detectors (I buy 4 in total) is extremely easy and straightforward. I tested 4 of these devices in different locations (2 in my basement). I found that all readings were correct except for RADON.Temp and Co2 - I aired my basement and the temp sensor responded accurately to a temperature drop as well as a rise when I closed the windows. The same applies to Co2 values and air pressure, which were a bit more difficult to check. On my Airwave Plus detector in my large room, the humidity was yellow. I set up a humidifier nearby and the device gave accurate readings as promised. The humidifier ran out of water and the reading dropped. The Airwave Plus detector again reported accurate sink readings. The TVOC proof was impressive. The VOC readings provided accurate and detailed readings when the radon technician used glue to seal my drain pump. Again, the readings decreased over time as the glue fumes disappeared. The reading from the second closest detector also showed a curve almost identical to that of the next detector, except for a slightly lower reading (70 feet in the same basement). Bad: The radon detection was rejected, which I find unacceptable. This detector has an accuracy problem when tuned to fluctuating radon levels, resulting in higher average levels in the short and long term. This can be the difference between your home being within or above the EPA 4.0 pCi/L "acceptable" level. My tests have shown that after 1 week the radon level is +2 pCi/L above the actual level. I bought an AIRTHINGS Corentium Home Radon Detector (see attached picture) and placed it next to the unit. An Airthings Corentium detector unit would read -1 lower and would almost match a professional certified radon meter used by a professional radon technician. Here are the current readings from three detectors next to my sump pump with a newly installed radon abatement system - Airthings Airwaves Plus - 1.2 pCi/L (long term constant) Airthings Corentium Home - 0.43 pCi/L (0.75 pCi/L long term ) SunNuclear Professional Certification - 0.19 pCi/L (0.62 pCi/L long term) Summary: Everything is as expected except for radon detection. Radon detection worked but it was too high to get a B or higher. ) when using Airthings Airwave Plus. Airthings Corentium Home will always be 1 pCi/L lower on average. The expert certified radon device used by the radon technician was 2 pCi/L lower in the short term (48 hours) and 1 pCi/L lower in the long term (1 week). Did I really have a serious radon problem? Probably none exceed 4.0 pCi/L (average) and certainly do not exceed that amount year-round. I live in winter, rain/snow etc. Radon is much worse in these conditions. However, the Airwave Plus detector remains solid red, indicating a serious problem that needs immediate attention. On the plus side, I like the fact that the reported radon levels were HIGH, not LOW. This at least alerted me to the potential problem so I could have it checked out by a professional. I ended up installing a radon protection system because of Airwaves Plus. God saves man, who saves himself?
