Review on Propel Star Wars Quadcopter Collectors Camera & Photo by Betty Tucker

I like it but it's mixed version

I fly Freestyle FPV but when I saw this I had to have it. I wanted to gut it, replace the flight controller, and add an FPV camera, but I would lose all the cool dogfights and sounds. It remains untouched for the time being. This is a great drone, but there are some serious issues with it. First, I would categorically not give this to a child. It's mostly docile and only offers auto-level flight, but the interface has already resulted in some minor injuries. Autostart problem. Even with protective covers installed, this thing easily springs to life when you're not expecting it. I've never had an accidental crash with another drone, but I've been injured 3 times for doing exactly that. The protective case is designed to protect your walls, not your fingers. It's not for security. The problem is that one of the four large unlabeled middle buttons is a trigger for self-start mode. If you haven't read the manual, you may be pressing buttons and not realizing you've triggered a launch. If you're just being careless with the controller, it's easy to hit the wrong button. In any event, due to this aircraft's hover mode feature, there is a 2 second delay before the propellers reach full speed. The only warning is the sound effect on the controller, but this thing keeps dangling, making the warning easy to miss. On any other quad, the throttle would start at zero upon activation, so worst-case scenario you'd be hit with an idle-spinning prop. As many other reviewers have noted, my quad also had clipped wax seals and a cracked display. Crate. Luckily I don't bother collecting or trading it. I guess they had to reopen the boxes to fix things after they made them. The unboxing presentation was great and wasn't diminished by the repackaging. Flying on a ship is fun. It's pretty dull in the air, but there doesn't seem to be any trim, so pin down to compensate for the drift. It's limited to horizon mode, where it levels itself automatically when you let go of the joystick, but there are buttons that allow it to do flips. I would recommend this to anyone who can be counted on to handle this safely.

Pros
  • reversible motor.
Cons
  • Easy maintainability
